This website was created to showcase my landscape, nature, and adventure travel photography - off the beaten path. And to get off the beaten path, you usually have to get off the pavement. That's how the name came about. Plus, all other domain names I could come up with were already taken.

Alexander Albrecht

This is me, Alexander Albrecht, perfecting the art of hands-free photography.

Ever since I received my first camera as a gift at the tender age of ten, I much preferred being behind the camera, rather than in front. During my teenage years, I frequently borrowed my older sister's SLR camera, sometimes for as long as a month at a time. Ever since, I try to find as much time as possible to travel - preferably by motorcycle - and take photographs. Of course, I use my own cameras now, both 35mm and medium format film cameras, and more recently mainly digital SLRs.

Photography is unfortunately only a hobby of mine, in real life I am a researcher at the University of New Mexico. But in case you would like to part with large amounts of money (or free cameras or motorcycles) to have me travel and take photos for you, please let me know.
